The support taxis give to our communities cannot be under-estimated and the industry is a vital component in our ambitions for public transport in Wales, as set out in the Wales Transport Strategy.ĭespite the importance of this sector to our public transport ambitions, the industry remains governed by laws made when the horse drawn hackneys were a common feature on our streets. Taxis perform a vital service to some of the most vulnerable members of society especially in rural areas where there are no other forms of public transport, taxis also deliver a significant contribution to the night time and tourism economy.
